Your practice
begins.
You saved a story. Something rang true. Now give that insight a place in the next ordinary moment.

With Master Water and Pebble.
Old Taoist stories. Your everyday life.
“I still did not know the outcome. I did take the next step.”
The first words stay. A new understanding can join them.An illustrative reflection, not a reader testimonial or App screenshot.

what is here.
Choose something familiar. Find your own words, then one response small enough to try.

A STORY → YOUR WORDS → YOUR LIFE
Your words then.
Your experience now.
The App we are building connects a story, your response and your return. Explore the four steps through one fictional example.

OLD ROOTS / CAREFUL CONNECTIONS
A little less force. A little more attention.
OUR TAOIST STARTING POINT
In the Zhuangzi, Cook Ding learns to respond to the situation before him. At a difficult place, he becomes careful and slows down. His skill holds room for difficulty, attention and experience.
Our invitation: notice where you are pushing for an answer, and try meeting the next moment with a little more room.
Zhuangzi · Nourishing the Lord of Life · Cook Ding ↗A PRACTICAL CONNECTION TO RESEARCH
Give an intention a moment.
Research on specific plans and checking progress informs two questions: When could I try this? And later, what happened?

For the curious: sources, research & further reading
- Zhuangzi · Nourishing the Lord of Life · Cook Ding
The traditional context behind this page’s invitation. Our fictional characters and modern prompts are adaptations.
- Gollwitzer & Sheeran (2006) · Implementation intentions and goal achievement
A research synthesis on linking a particular situation with an intended response.
- Harkin and colleagues (2016) · Monitoring goal progress
Research on checking actual progress, rather than a claim about every form of journaling.
- James Clear · Habit stacking · further reading from the author of Atomic Habits
A practical account of connecting a new behaviour to an existing routine. A reading reference, not an endorsement.
These sources inform our approach. They do not establish that this App is effective, or that a philosophical tradition has been scientifically proven.

ROOM FOR QUESTIONS
A little more
before you begin.
Why an App, if I already enjoy the videos?
The videos give you a story. The App is being built to keep the story, your response and your later reflections together—so an insight has somewhere to return. Watching a story is worthwhile on its own.
Could I do this in a notebook?
Absolutely. A notebook can hold a meaningful practice. The App’s intended convenience is the connection between a sourced story, prompts, your words and your return to them.
Do I need to belong to this tradition?
No. You can arrive with curiosity. This doorway begins with Taoist sources; their context matters, and you are free to reflect without adopting a belief.
Will the AI tell me what I need to do?
The proposed AI features offer a starting point within our story library and an optional question. They are not intended to decide for you or replace your judgement.
When can I use the App?
We are developing and refining it now. There is no public download or subscription yet. In the meantime, this page’s small exercise, our stories and printable field notes are free to use.
